Doctrinal Statement

Biblical Inerrancy

We believe the Bible to be inerrant—the verbally inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). The Prophet or Apostle wrote words that were both his and God's (2 Peter 1:21). God's word is true (John 17:17). His word will never pass away (Matthew 5:18). It is the means God uses to speak to His people and is interpreted by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13). The ultimate accuracy of that interpretation depends on the faithfulness of God (Deuteronomy 7:9) and the godliness of the person doing the interpreting (Psalms 1:1-3).

The Trinity

We believe that God eternally exists in three equal persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14). We believe that Jesus is subject to the authority of the Father (John 6:38). We believe the Holy Spirit is first and foremost the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13). He is also the giver of gifts (1 Corinthians 12:28-31). God is immutable (Psalms 90:2); eternal (Psalms 102:26-27); omnipotent (Psalms 115:3); omnipresent (Psalms 139:7-12); and omniscient (Psalms 147:5). God is above all sovereign (Isaiah 45:22). Every creature is subject to His Lordship (Philippians 2:10).

Creation of Man–Institution of Marriage

We believe men and women were created equally in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). We believe in distinctly differing male/female roles (Ephesians 5:22-33, Colossians 3:18-19). Biblical marriage is defined in Genesis 2:24—the two shall become one—and that only happens when husband and wife are faithful to their male/female role assignments. We refuse any other definition of marriage—egalitarian, same-sex, etc. We define family as a husband and wife who are united in biblical marriage along with the children God gives them—by blood or by adoption.

The Fall

We believe man was created without sin, but rebelled against God by eating of the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:6). When Adam fell the entire human race fell with him (Romans 5:12). We believe the entire creation was corrupted by sin (Romans 8:20-22) and that includes marriage and family. At the Fall, man became a rebel—against God and against man. The only solution is that man should surrender his will to that of his Maker (Romans 14:11).

The Family–The First Mission Field

We believe that man can have a personal relationship with God (Romans 8:15). And we believe that marriage and family are the primary means God has provided to teach relationship. We believe that a proper understanding of family relationships is foundational to forming an eternal relationship with one's Creator (1 John 4:20). For these reasons we are distressed at the current epidemic of marriage and family failure. We believe that marital training helps one to understand the Gospel. We believe that in the context of biblical marriage and family, men can most effectively find their way to Salvation.

The Nature of Christ

We believe Jesus, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God (John 1:14). He was conceived of the Holy Spirit by the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-35). On earth He laid aside the independent use of His Divine attributes and, in so doing, identified with sinful man. He remained free from personal sin while bearing the sin of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21) in His crucified body (John 19:30).

Blood Atonement

We believe that the shed blood of Jesus paid the redemptive price for man's Salvation and reconciliation to God (John 1:29, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 9:14, 1 Peter 1:18-19, 1 John 1:7, Revelation 1:5).

We believe all men are born in sin (Psalms 51:5) and that everyone must be born again (John 3:7). We believe that at Salvation men are justified and declared righteous on the basis of the finished work of Christ (Romans 3:21-26). We reject the idea of Salvation based on personal goodness (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Water Baptism

We believe water baptism is a picture of our identity with Christ in His death and resurrection (Romans 6:4-11). It is a public confession that our rebellious nature has been crucified with Christ, and that we have been born again according to the words of Jesus (John 3:7).

The Lord's Supper

We believe that the elements of the Lord's supper symbolize the body and blood of Jesus, and in so taking of those elements we, as a Christian body, remember the Lord's death until He returns (1 Corinthians 11:26).

The Second Coming

We believe Christ will return just like He left this earth (Acts 1:11).

The Resurrection

We believe Christ was raised from the dead (Matthew 28:5-6, Romans 6:9). … All men will be raised from the dead—some to everlasting life, others to everlasting judgment (John 5:29, Revelation 20:5-6).
